Lunch is served and grazing is back

We're pleased to once again be able to provide lunch for delegates on our full-day courses from 1 September.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing, and following demand, we are reintroducing a catered lunch.

Whether you're here for a one-day Emergency First Aid, two day Mental Health First Aid or three-day IOSH course, you'll be provided with a sandwich or wrap and snacks.

To ensure all delegates feel comfortable with our lunch offering we'll provide pre-prepared wraps and sandwiches along with individually-wrapped snacks.

We've also reintroduced a new and improved grazing station.

Our popular set-up now features cannisters of nuts, seeds and chocolate for you to graze throughout your course.

The station is still self-serve, but we've reduced the contact points and will provide surface cleaning wipes and will continue to offer hand sanitiser.

Pre-packed biscuits will still feature alongside the grazing station for all courses.

If you have any allergies or dietary requirements please let us know when making your booking and we'll ensure to meet your needs. All items will also feature allergen information.

Kai qualifies as a Face Fit tester

Trainee Construction Consultant Kai has added a new string to his bow, he’s now a qualified face fit tester.

Kai joins Ilona and Karen as qualified face-fit testers who help our customers feel safe that their PPE is doing its job.

A qualitative face-fit test lasts for up to 40 minutes and makes sure that half and disposable face coverings are providing protection.

A series of exercises establish if there is a tight seal for the mask, letting you know the mask you’re wearing is a good fit.

COVID-Secure training continues at Browns Health & Safety

The safety of our staff and visitors is out top priority, so we're committed to ensuring we're a COVID-Secure training environment after government restrictions are lifted.

As legal restrictions on course numbers and social distancing have been removed we want to allow more people to train with us while continuing to offer a safe environment.

  • We're increasing course numbers from 6 to 8. This will mean we can offer more training dates, but will also allow for distancing in our training room.
  • Government guidance is for people to continue to wear face coverings when in crowded spaces. As we can't ensure distancing in circulation spaces of the office we ask that visitors and staff wear face a covering while moving around the building. This will help to keep others safe, but we understand if you're unable to cover your mouth and nose.
  • When you visit us we will ask you to sign our COVID-19 questionnaire so we can keep details for 21 days for Test and Trace. We also use the document in case of a fire so we know who is in the building.
  • We'll continue to provide extra cleaning throughout the day so frequently-touched surfaces are regularly cleaned.
  • Ventilation is the best way to reduce the spread of COVID-19, so we'll continue to keep windows and doors open throughout the building.

Our consultants will continue to work from home where appropriate and wear face coverings when completing audits. We'll also continue to provide hand sanitiser for visits so you can be confident that we're taking as many precautions as possible.



New MD for Browns Health & Safety

We’re pleased to announce we’ve appointed Karen Poole as our new Managing Director.

Karen has worked for Browns for 13 years and knows the company inside-out, having worked as a consultant, trainer and operations manager.

The new position will see her oversee the management of the company, but she will continue to provide advice, guidance and support to clients.

Director and Owner Steve Ruddick said: “I’m delighted to be handing the day-to-day running of the company to Karen, she has supported Browns for over a decade and I know has some exciting ideas for the future.”

The news is part of Steve’s five-year retirement plans which include reducing his management role to concentrate on training and enjoying time away from the office. He will remain sole owner of the company.

Karen added: “We’re a close-knit team at Browns and I want to ensure we continue to provide a personal and tailored service to clients and delegates.”
