Careers in Health and Safety

To become competent in Health and Safety we would recommend the following types of courses are taken;

(assuming you have no prior knowledge or experience)

  • A Basic Health and Safety course (IOSH or Browns )
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NEBOSH General Certifcate
  • NEBOSH Diploma

If you are looking at a career in Construction Health and Safety you may want to vary this slightly to something like;

  •  A Basic Health and Safety course (SPA Core day  )
  • Supervisor or Construction (SPA Sector Day)
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NEBOSH Construction Certifcate
  • NEBOSH Diploma

    By becoming a member of IOSH you are able to develop your Continuous Professional Development (CPD) which offers you the opportunity to create a structured career path as well as safeguard your professional status by demonstrating competency.

    Specific courses are also valuable and if you require training as part of your job you may have to attend courses such as Food Safey or Manual Handling etc.

    When you are ready to become a Chartered Member of IOSH we would recommend attending our Peer Review Panel Awareness Course.

Peer Review Panel

This course is designed to assist those Members of IOSH who wish to progress to the status of Chartered MEmber of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH). On completion of the course the candidate should be in a position to pass the Open Assessment Exam, prepare their presentation, and sit thir Peer Review Panel Interview with added confidence.
