National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and HealthThe NEBOSH National General Certificate is a qualification designed to help those with health and safety responsibility and to carry out their duties more effectively. It is appropriate for those who have received little or no formal structured training but delegates must be able to write short reports. It is most widely held and recognised health and safety qualification in the UK and is at level 3 in the National Qualification Framework. Who Should Attend?Those with Health and Safety responsibilities, including managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations who need a broad understanding of health and safety issues. Course OverviewThe course is divided into three distinct units – two taught units NGC1 and NGC2 (which contain the elements listed below) and a supervised practical assessment in a workplace area – NGC3. Unit NGC2: Controlling Workplace Hazards
A written examination in the form of two individual papers of 2 hours each will be taken on the final day – Unit NGC1 in the morning and Unit NGC2 in the afternoon. Unit NGC3: Health And Safety Practical ApplicationThe practical test involves a safety inspection of a workplace (½ hour duration) and the preparation of a report following the inspection (1½ hour duration) which covers the hazards observed and remedial actions recommended.
